Q: Can I get pin-point positions (GPS positions)?
A:
Yes. Mtrack has three GPS capable units, MtrackPro Wireless, the MtrackPro Wired and the MtrackFleet unit. The MtrackPro Wireless as the name implies is totally wireless and uses its own internal lithium battery as power supply. All antennas are also encased within the unit. This unit uses a sleep cycle configuration to conserve battery power. The MtrackPro Wired and the MtrackFleet units have external wiring and this is used to draw power from an external power source (vehicles 12V or 24V battery) to charge the internal back-up battery in the unit.
Q: How does Mtrack differ to GPS based systems?
A:
Mtrack is unique, in as much that it has been designed first and foremost as a security product to track and recover your asset and not a fleet management tool to check every minute where an asset is.
As it does not rely on having to see the sky like conventional GPS systems, assets that are hidden by thieves indoors and underground such as car parks and garages can still be located. Unlike battery hungry hard-wired GPS tracking devices Mtrack contains its own power source so therefore can be located on virtually any asset, anywhere and is even waterproof up to 1 metre. This also means items without power sources such as lorry trailers, high value parcels and caravans with temporary power sources can still be monitored. As a result, Mtrack is very hard for thieves to trace giving you a much greater chance of recovery.
