FAQ – Mtrack

Q: How long does the Mtrack battery last?

A:

Approximately 1 year, based upon normal usage (set to wake up every 60 minutes / 24 times per day). Battery life is dependant upon how many times you wake the unit, the more you wish to wake the unit to verify its location the quicker the battery will need replacing. The patented power source has been specially developed by Mtrack to give incredible battery life for such a compact unit by using a wake/sleep pattern shown below and can be remotely configured by a monitoring station using SMS text messaging. Typically we would recommend a 1 hour sleep cycle, with a battery life expectancy of 10 to 12 months.

Q: Can I get pin-point positions (GPS positions)?

A:

Yes. Mtrack has three GPS capable units, MtrackPro Wireless, the MtrackPro Wired and the MtrackFleet unit. The MtrackPro Wireless as the name implies is totally wireless and uses its own internal lithium battery as power supply. All antennas are also encased within the unit. This unit uses a sleep cycle configuration to conserve battery power. The MtrackPro Wired and the MtrackFleet units have external wiring and this is used to draw power from an external power source (vehicles 12V or 24V battery) to charge the internal back-up battery in the unit.
