FAQ – Gps Accuracy

Q: What may affect the GPS accuracy?

A:

Atmosphere, ionosphere and the position of your GPS receiver may all affect GPS accuracy. Buildings, natural structures and heavy foliage that obstruct the GPS unit’s view of the sky, may influence the accuracy of the reported position.

Q: How often does the GPS unit record a GPS position?

A:

These positions are recorded per second, but reported back via the software every minute when moving and hourly when stationary. If there is an alarm or exception, then these events will be reflected in the trip as and when they have occurred. This allows for accurate trip replay functionality regardless of the “join the dots” you will see on the trip replay. The system therefore does not cut corners or have data missing as might be perceived.
