Background
A client reported that one of their vehicles was hijacked in the Vosloorus area.
Event
The vehicle was reporting from the Barbeton area and agents were dispatched. Once they found the vehicle, the agents waited for the local SAPS. They were informed that the owner was on route from Johannesburg.
The vehicle did not have any damage to the body; however the dashboard and panels on the inside of the truck were ripped apart. Obviously the thieves had been looking for a wired tracking device.
At this stage, it was ascertained that the cargo was still in the trailer. Technicians from Volvo were dispatched to fix the electrics in the vehicle. Apart from contacting the SAPS to look out for the vehicle, the insurance company organised a
helicopter to land at the scene. It was then established that the driver had a previous case pending against him.
Value
The truck and cargo was recovered. Total value R900,000.
