QASA gets new wheels

Bedfordview tracking company, Mtrack, donated four wheelchairs to the Quadriplegic Association of South Africa (QASA) on Tuesday, October 26.
The company will also provide tracking systems for QASA?s vehicles.
QASA national director, An Seinlis, said that his organisation assists people with disabilities with skills, mobility and other support they need to integrate with the community.
?These are not just chairs but they are four people who will be given mobility and safety through tracking systems fitted in our vehicles. The venerability of our staff will be reduced drastically because we will be able to monitor their whereabouts all the time. If they need help we will know where to go.? he said.
Mr Seirlis said as part of fundraising and raising awareness about the challenges faced by people with disabilities, QASA is running a David Lewis lodge that caters for people with special needs at Elma Park in Edenvale.
?Most facilities do not cater for people with disabilities. This lodge is one of the few in the country and in the world.? he said.
QASA attracted the world?s eye when it burned wheelchair tyres during the FIFA World Cup.
Mtrack?s managing director, Mr Deon Bayly, said that his company was moved by the work of QASA and its national director, Mr Seirlis? positive attitude and unique style of motivation.
?He has changed QASA from being a loss making, poorly organised welfare into a financially strong, meaningful organisation that makes a difference to its members.
Having trackers fitted in their vehicles will give them peace of mind as they will be able to monitor their cars at all time. If their cars encounter any problems we will be able to send help immediately,? he said.
Mr Bayly said that Mtrack will provide QASA with tracking services for many years to come.
