Mtrack Leopard Conservation Tracking collar
Many phone calls and emails later, Leopard Conservation Project joined in the research and we finally got together in June 2008 to design and build a prototype collar for this special project.
We were delighted with the results and the first animal with the Mtrack collar was released early July 2008.
This project is the result of many hours behind the drawing board, but mostly because of the love and compassion of the individuals involved for the conservation and protection of our wildlife in Southern Africa. Mtrack is proud to be associated with the Leopard Conservation Project, and will continue to protect our natural heritage with the dedicated team involved.
Attached please find pictures of Tharo III, the first leopard that is being tracked by Mtrack. He is a young male of 36kg and about 12 to 18 months old. This is a joined venture by Mtrack and the Leopard Conservation Group, and once again shows the faith we have in our product. Note the collar that has been scientifically designed to be “leopard-friendly” and still function to produce position and movement data required for the safety and protection of the species.
